Congratulations to Jules Deju-Castagne who won the 2019 coaches award

This is for the junior who the coaches feel brings the most to Thursday nights personality and commitment wise.

Bath Sword Club prides itself on the junior club. We encourage fencing from a very young age and support junior fencers to develop themselves and achieve whatever goals they set themselves.

When they start children should wear tracksuit bottoms (thick), trainers (Hi-Tec Squash or indoor shoes are ideal) and a T-shirt. We provide the rest of the equipment. Once they decide they like the sport, then you can begin buying their own fencing kit on an item-by-item basis or all in one go.

Different people have different goals and the ethos of Bath Sword Club is very much that we support our junior fencers to develop as they prefer.  Some fencers prefer to fence socially, some to develop themselves and their skills in training to be the best level they can without competing.  Other fencers prefer to develop their fencing skills for competition of different levels.  We are proud to support all fencers equally but would never let an opportunity go without advertising how much many of our juniors achieve on a regional, national and international stage!  Don’t take our word for it though, the results speak for themselves  https://leonpauljuniorseries.co.uk/rankings/viewrankings.

We are also proud to offer a separate development session on Monday evenings for fencers who show the desire, attitude and aptitude to progress their fencing.  These sessions iare by invitation and places rarely become available until a young fencer has been fencing with us for some time.  This year some of our coaches have been running a junior talent development programme for the larger area (some of the more dedicated attendees travel from Wales!) in co-operation with British Fencing and Team Bath
